Let’s put the big news up front:
Skullgirls on Steam just received an update!
The update includes new intro animations for Beowulf, Double, and Squigly, courtesy of Skullgirls Mobile! It also comes with a few gameplay improvements and fixes. Most of the juicy details can be found in this post, with a few more notes in this post.
The Skullgirls 2nd Encore Upgrade DLC got an update as well!
That update includes:
- Two new colors per character from Skullgirls Switch, courtesy of Skybound!
- Even more extra colors for various characters, courtesy of Skullgirls Mobile!
- A new stage, No Man’s Land, also courtesy of Skullgirls Mobile!
- Several more revived, previously-removed colors for various characters.
(That’s over 40 additional colors!)
There have actually been several updates to the game on Steam recently, largely centered around improvements to netplay. It was good before. Now it’s GREAT!!!
We’re trying to bring all of that stuff to PS4 and Switch!
The netplay improvements, new stage, extra colors, intro animations, gameplay improvements and fixes… all of it. We appreciate your patience! We’ll let you know when we have an update on that!
Why now?
- The timing is right! We made some breakthroughs with the netcode, fixed some long-standing gameplay issues, and have wanted to bring the content from other versions over to the main game for a while now.
- Given the renewed attention Skullgirls has been getting, we wanted to put out an update that would serve as the definitive version for online competitive play. As such, there will be no further gameplay updates that are not strictly bug-fixes until after EVO Online at the earliest.
If you own Skullgirls on Steam, go give the new and improved netplay a try! It’s really amazing!!
If you own Skullgirls on PS4 or Switch, please be patient while we work to bring these updates over to those platforms ASAP.
